Can a Fat Transfer to My Breasts Give Me The Same Look as Implants?
September 14, 2018
As the most popular cosmetic surgery among women in the United States, it’s no surprise that breast augmentation has come a long way since saline implants. Today, there are nearly a dozen different ways to get the breast size and shape of your dreams. One of the increasingly popular ways is through a fat transfer.
What is a Fat Transfer Breast Augmentation?
Think of a fat transfer like liposuction, but instead of disposing of the fat taken out of your body, it gets injected back into your breasts.
Why Choose a Fat Transfer Over Breast Implants?
It’s more natural.
Some people are uncomfortable with the fact that they’d have a foreign object in their breasts and would prefer to improve the look of their breasts in a more natural way.
The possibility of rejection is lower.
Because a surgeon would simply be moving fat around, rather than insert a foreign object in your body, there’s less chance of your body reacting negatively to the procedure.
Less recovery time.
Nowadays, breast implant recovery is relatively minimal, with people returning back to their daily lives within weeks of the procedure. However, if you don’t want to spend that much time recovering, a fat transfer may be a better option.
A more natural appearance.
Again, breast implants themselves and the surgical procedures used to insert them have come leaps and bounds from years before, meaning they look more natural than ever. However, some women still do not like the look of implants.
When a Fat Transfer May Not be the Best Option
Though there are many reasons why a person would prefer to have a fat transfer over breast implants, they’re not the right choice for everyone.
If you don’t have much excess fat.
The fat that’s going into your breasts has to come from somewhere else on your body. If you don’t have much fat, particularly around your tummy, you may not be able to do a transfer.
If you’re looking to go up multiple cup sizes.
A fat transfer can’t offer as dramatic results as breast implants. If you’re looking to go from an A to a C cup, for example, a fat transfer probably won’t be enough to get you there.
In the end, a fat transfer likely won’t give you the same outcome as breast implants would. However, it is a great option for women looking to make small, natural-looking changes to their breasts.
