A thigh lift is the surgical correction of loose and or sagging skin on the thighs. There are a variety of reasons why the thigh skin can sag or become lose including weight loss, after a pregnancy, because of aging or from sun exposure. A thigh lift can be accomplished in one of two ways: either through minimally invasive or by having complete thigh lift surgery.
Sometimes only a portion of the thighs are what have become sagging or loose. Saddlebags are a good example of a situation where only the outer thighs would need correction. It will be up to the discretion of the surgeon to help you determine whether minimally-invasive liposuction or a full thigh lift would be recommended. Often times, in mild to moderate cases of loose or sagging thigh skin, laser liposuction using SmartLipo can be used to resolve the problem areas in a minimally-invasive manner.
However, for some patients who experience moderate to severe loose or sagging skin a more invasive approach may be the best means of correcting the problem areas when combined with laser liposuction. Loose inner thigh skin, for example, can cause rubbing, chafing and irritation or pain. This can not only be bothersome and uncomfortable but can impede a patient’s ability to exercise, thus putting their health at risk due to living a sedentary lifestyle. An inner (or medial) thigh lift could be the best possible surgical treatment plus laser liposuction for a patient in this situation. A thigh lift involves making an incision up the center of the inner thighs. Sometimes it also requires an upper thigh lift which would also require an additional incision around the inner curve of the thigh near the lower pubic area. The incisions are always placed so that the very least amount of scarring shows and patients can wear less clothing to reveal their tightened, normal-looking skin.
No matter which procedure is best for your particular situation, the end goal is to shape and contour your thighs to look not only tighter but sexier as well. Please click here to research our other body lift procedures to find out what other areas of the body can be lifted by our plastic surgeons.
