Surgeons Answer Your Breast Procedure Questions

June 2, 2017

Medical questions are the most frequently asked Google searches in the world and our industry is no different. People want all the answers before they partake in a procedure and our experienced surgeons have them right here for you»

What is Best For Me?
The most common breast procedure clients we see are those looking for augmentation. A women may have lost a lot of weight and wants her breasts to return to the same size. Or she may have had a child and deformed her breasts during feeding. Whatever the case is, women typically come to us to get a confidence boost when they go out in public. There’s nothing wrong with that ladies and we are more than willing to help! Augmentation, reduction, doesn’t matter, Wall Street Cosmetic Surgery has your front covered!

How Long is Recovery?
Recovery is difficult to predict because it is really on a per-patient basis. Some people heal more rapidly than others and are back to work and daily activities in a week or two. But the most common recovery cycle is listed below:

  • Week 1 is usually always the same. Very limited movement and a lot of tenderness.
  • Week 2 the patient will usually start to see more movement but no lifting or strenuous activity.
  • Week 3 some patients can get back to work and resume small and non-strenuous tasks.
  • Week 4 is the week of truth. This is when we start to see some patients remove their compression bra and go to a regular one. This is all at the discretion of the surgeon.

When Will They Settle?
Patients need to keep in mind that a breast implant is just a foreign object in your body. Your body might reject it at first and push it higher up in the chest so it looks overly-rounded and strange. This is normal. Some surgeons will recommend an elastic band to push them down and others will just tell you to massage and push them down several times a day. Don’t panic though, they’ll be more natural looking as your body adjusts to them.

Is It Painful?
Like any surgery that disrupts soft tissue and blood vessels, these procedures are certainly not going to feel great for the first 3-5 days. There will be soreness and almost a heavy feeling to the breast during that time. We will prescribe you medication to deal with the pain and after that initial period, you should need only OTC painkillers. If you have already had a child, breast procedures are nothing compared to labor!
